When Technology is the Basis for Social Patterns…
Aahhh… but the technology we use for communication and coordination (spoken language, writing, printing, centralized electronic →decentralized electronic) form the very basis for our social, organizational, and cultural patterns.
As those underlying coordinative capacities transform, so does everything on the social organizational level.
Spoken language gave us tribes. Writing gave us Kingdoms & Empire. Printing gave us Constitutional Government & Corporate Bylaws. The next patterns are only starting to come into existence, but they change everything!
